11 Days: THE MOST SUCCESSFUL ROUTE TO THE TOP OF AFRICA
▪ Longest and most scenic route on Kilimanjaro
▪ Includes extra hiking days
▪ The top of Africa (19,332 feet)
▪ Time-tested acclimatization schedule
▪ Fully-supported camping trek
The Northern Circuit Route is the newest, most exciting route on Kilimanjaro. At first the trek follows the Lemosho Trail and approaches Kilimanjaro from the west. However, instead of following the southern traverse like all the other western approach routes, the Northern Circuit traverses the mountain around the quiet, rarely visited northern slopes. The Northern Circuit provides a 9 day climb, which is the longest route in terms of time and distance traveled, but offers the best acclimatization schedule for the 13,000 feet of ascent needed to obtain the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. At 19,332 feet / 5,894 meters, Kilimanjaro is the high point of Africa and, therefore, one of the world’s seven continental summits. In fact, it is technically the easiest of the “Seven Summits,” but this does not mean that it should be underestimated. Whichever route you choose to tackle, the height gain of around 13,000 feet / 4,000 meters cannot be avoided and this is the reason why Kilimanjaro presents a considerable challenge to even the fittest of hikers. Flying in to Kilimanjaro International Airport gives us speedy access to our comfortable hotel base in Moshi.
