manaslu tsum smThis is a truly unique and little-traveled itinerary linking the sacred Tsum Valley with the trekking circuit around Mount Manaslu.

The relatively low altitudes of the Tsum Valley make this an ideal first time trek and a stunning exploratory opportunity for Himalayan connoisseurs. A sacred Himalayan pilgrimage valley situated in the Gorkha region of Nepal, the Tsum Valley was only opened to trekkers late in 2007 and very few foreigners have set foot in this magical region close to the Tibetan border. 'Tsum’ comes from the Tibetan word ‘Tsombo’, which means vivid. The local people are mostly of Tibetan origin and speak their own dialect. The Buddhist saint Milarepa is said to have meditated in the caves of these mountains, and the entire valley is a ‘beyul’ or secret land, believed to help all on their road to enlightenment. Due to the remote isolation of Tsum, the unique culture of this valley has remained largely intact, and we take our time to absorb as much Himalayan magic as possible as we travel through this ancient and virtually unexplored land.

To make this trip even more exciting and adventurous, we have decided to link the Tsum Valley with our classic circuit trek around Manaslu, the 8th highest mountain in the world. We will pass through remote Buddhist hamlets as we work our way up to the foot of Manaslu's North Face. We will then cross the Larkya La Pass (16,925 feet) before joining the traditional Annapurna Circuit Trail and return to Kathmandu. This is a Himalayan trek worthy of the 'Epic' title!
