8 Days: LODGE BASED DAY HIKING IN THE PICOS DE EUROPA NATIONAL PARK
▪ Visit peaceful villages
▪ Taste delicious farm to table meals
▪ High mountains and rugged coastlines
▪ Walk through steep-sided gorges
▪ Carefully crafted immersive itinerary
Most people have never heard of the Picos de Europa, which is no bad thing for those of us who love the peace and quiet of hiking in big mountain landscapes. Craggy highlands are sliced through by narrow river gorges. Thick forests and grassy meadows surround tiny villages. These soaring mountains are home to a unique collection of 1,500 species of flora and over 100 different species of both birds and butterflies, not to mention wolves and bears. Shepherds have been shaping the landscape since prehistoric times. This unique blend of nature and culture makes the Picos de Europa one of Spain’s foremost UNESCO Biosphere Reserves.
This is a journey created by us to introduce you to the people, landscapes, culture and gastronomy of Spain's beautiful Picos de Europa. Although the dramatic mountain scenery makes it look challenging, walks on this hiking vacation are intended to be of moderate grade so suitable for anyone who enjoys hill walking.
