THE ULTIMATE ANNAPURNA TREK: A unique hike across the Annapurna RangeLost Valleys of the Narphu Trek - 50 Tours of a Lifetime 2012 - One World Trekking

  • Remote villages and valleys of NarPhu
  • Hiking 5,000 meter passes
  • Experience pure Tibetan culture
  • Visit Buddhist monasteries
  • Route offers grand Himalayan views

Awarded by National Geographic Traveler as “50 Tours of a Lifetime” in 2012

This unique and seldom traveled route offers the adventurous trekker a bit of everything that makes Nepal so special. From Besisahar, we will gradually ascend the Marshyangi River Valley to Koto. Here, we head northwards and enter the recently opened NarPhu Valleys of Upper Manang. Passing through the chorten gate that designates the entrance to NarPhu, it’s as if we’ve been transported into a land where time has stood still. The Himalayan Pine quickly give way to high plateau, remote Tibetan villages built of stone, ancient Buddhist monasteries and grand views of the Annapurna Range.

This magical area is known to have one of the highest concentration of snow leopard per square kilometer of anywhere in the world. After numerous days of exploration, we regrettably exit this valley via the exciting 5,315 meter Kang La pass. Here we pick up the main Annapurna Circuit route at Braga, continue to Manang Village and steadily make our way up and over the Thorong La pass (17,765 feet / 5416 meters). From the holy village of Muktinath, we trek to Kagbeni (the gateway to Upper Mustang) and on to the airstrip at Jomsom for the flight back to Kathmandu.

During the trek, we will follow the ‘New Annapurna Trekking Trail’ (NATT) where possible. This new series of trails will not keep us off the dirt roads 100% of the time, but does significantly reduce the amount of time we have to walk on the dirt roads along the main Annapurna Trail.

The Lost Valleys of NarPhu Trek is led by one of our experienced trekking guides and represents a gourmet hiking adventure in the great Himalayan Range. In 2025, we are able to arrange this incredible trek starting on any day of the week during the months of mid-March to late May and late September to mid-November for groups of 2 to 12 people.
