EVEREST LUXURY LODGE TREK
CULTURAL TREK IN THE MOUNT EVEREST NATIONAL PARK
16 days: Encounter Sherpa Life - Visit Buddhist Monasteries - Grand Mountain Views - Trek Nepal in Comfort
Home to Mount Everest and the famous Sherpa people, the Everest region is understandably the world's most popular and spectacular hiking destination. Our new Everest Luxury Lodge Trek takes in the spectacular beauty of Nepal's Khumbu region while staying in the area's highest quality accommodations. Our journey begins with a flight from Kathmandu to the 9,200-foot airstrip at Lukla. We then follow the traditional expedition route to the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar and onwards, alongside raging rivers to the village of Pangboche. Along the way we will visit many picturesque Sherpa villages such as Tengboche, the home of Nepal 's most famous monastery situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam (Mother's Charm).
After a day hike to the stunning base camp area for Ama Dablam, we continue on a high traversing path connecting Upper Pangboche to the seldom-visited hamlet of Phortse and back to our luxury lodge in Tashinga. On this section of trail we will encounter few others and will feel dwarfed by the surrounding mountains. Sacred stones, chortens, mani walls (boulders marked with Buddhist prayer inscriptions) and prayer flags will mark our route as we look down into the gorge of the Dudh Kosi and gaze up at the seemingly outstretched arms of Ama Dablam. We may not meet a Yeti, but Barking Deer, Musk Deer, Himalayan Tahr and the bearded Mountain Goat can be seen grazing on the steep slopes between Pangboche and Phortse. We end our relatively easy-paced and fully-supported luxury lodge trek with visits to the Sherpa villages of Mende and Thame. This trip is an excellent introduction to trekking in Nepal and provide a unique insight into the ‘Land of the Sherpa' and ‘Home of Mount Everest'.
