Our Ama Dablam Base Camp Lodge Trek trip begins with a spectacular flight from Kathmandu or Ramechhap to the 9,200-foot airstrip at the mountain village of Lukla. We then follow the traditional expedition route to the Sherpa capital of the Khumbu, the village of Namche Bazaar and onwards, alongside the raging Imja Khola River to the mouth of the high valley leading to Mount Everest. En route to Ama Dablam, we will visit many picturesque Sherpa villages. Tengboche, the home of Nepal’s most famous monastery, is situated beneath the impressive backdrop of Everest and Ama Dablam. We’ll spend two nights in the beautiful village of Pangboche, home to Nepal’s oldest monastery, in order to make the challenging and spectacular day hike to Ama Dablam Base Camp. During our trek, we will stay in a diverse combination of luxury lodges, standard lodges offering upgraded rooms and traditional, family-run lodges, all offering a unique insight into the past and current Khumbu experience.

This is a comfortable, well-paced and fully-supported lodge trek itinerary in the Sagarmatha National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. This trip is both an excellent choice as a one-off trek in Nepal and introduction for those looking to return and explore beyond the famous ‘Land of the Sherpa’ and home to the highest point on the planet – Mount Everest.
