The sun rises behind Mount Everest on an April morning hike from our lodge in Gorakshep up to the viewpoint peak of Kala Pattar. This is the scene we all dream of seeing ourselves a part of. I am grateful to have witnessed this view many times over the years and it always takes my breath away. Spring 2020 is the first trekking season in 32 years that One World Trekking will not have trekking groups in Nepal or share the spectacular Everest region with you.
When are we going to be able to travel again? We are planning on being able to return to Nepal in the autumn. With latitude approximately in line with Florida, groups can enjoy wonderful hiking weather into late December. Actually, every year we have groups at Everest Base Camp on Christmas Day.
I’m rather confident that when it is time, we will explore with more appreciation, attentiveness and gratitude than ever before.
