The 1st winter edition of the Highest Marathon Trail Run in the Himalayas
The trip dates are November 18 to December 6, 2027, for the Marathon, Half-Marathon, Non-Runner and Join at Base Camp options of the first running of our Mount Everest Winter Marathon. Race date is December 1, 2027, starting at Everest Base Camp!

On December 1, 2027, runners, joggers, hikers and walkers will leave Everest Base Camp (17,500 feet) on the first ever Mount Everest Winter Marathon. This is the colder version of our TENZING-HILLARY EVEREST MARATHON, one of the world’s most adventurous trail runs held every May/June.
The upcoming trip dates are November 18 to December 6, 2027. This marathon is an international sporting event, and we expect runners from dozens of countries to compete each year.
From Everest Base Camp, the marathon route is downhill (most of the way!) along rocky tracks and trails, traversing Nepal’s Khumbu region with a finish line at the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar (11,200ft). For the 9-day trek to Everest Base Camp, participants will be divided into groups each led by a professional, English-speaking Nepali trek leader and backed by a staff of porters and medical personnel. On race day, there will be official marshals, timekeepers and attendants at all check points and water stations at regular intervals along the route with arrangements for medical and emergency assistance if required.
The Mount Everest Winter Marathon is a very challenging and demanding off-road course despite being a mostly downhill run. It is suitable for people who are physically fit and can train regularly to meet the demands of running or hiking a marathon distance.
We are also offering a non-runner trip for those wishing to join family and friends but not take part in the race.
