high pass everest This is a unique trekking experience offering the opportunity to combine two of Nepal's great mountain regions - the Annapurnas and Everest. Many years ago, Sir Chris Bonington and Barney Rosedale undertook a reconnaissance of the route to the Namun La (18,237ft / 5,560m), a high pass along an old trade route connecting the Pokhara Valley to Manang in the Annapurna Range. This route proved and continues to be a unique and little-traveled way to connect onto the main Annapurna Circuit Trail. Only recently introduced to foreigners, the trail to Dudh Pokhari (Milk Lake) and the Namun La Pass allows adventurous hikers an off-the-beaten path experience.

However, the fun doesn't end at the Namun La Pass. After completing our loop trek in the Annapurnas, we return to the comforts of Kathmandu for a night before heading out again to take on the famous Khumbu region of Nepal - the home to Mount Everest. The Everest adventure begins with a memorable 45 minute flight to the small mountain town of Lukla, the gateway to the spectacular villages, Buddhist culture and high mountain landscapes of the famous Khumbu region. From the Sherpa capital of Namche Bazaar, our group will deviate off the main Everest Trail and follow a quiet path to the sleepy village of Thame and north to the turquoise Gokyo Lakes via the high and challenging Renjo La Pass at 17,925 feet. The scenery along this route is breathtaking; offering views of the snow-capped giants Khangtiaga, Thamserku, Nuptse, Lhotse and, of course, Mount Everest.

During this varied trek, you’ll encounter a wide range of sights; picturesque farming villages, Buddhist monasteries, terraced farmland, glacial lakes, steep-sided gorges, raging rivers and, of course, the incredible mountain scenery of the Annapurna and Everest regions.
